Naat recitation & English declamation contests held under COSIS

Hafta Taqreebat COSIS 2024

A 'Bazm-e-Minhaj' event continued its week-long series of activities with a competition in recitation of poetry (Naat) and English speeches under the auspices of the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences. Students from over 30 colleges and universities across Punjab participated in the intercollegiate Naat recitation and English speech competition. The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Minhaj University, Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Principal College of Shariah, Dr. Mumtaz ul Hassan Barvi, Custodian of the Holy Shrine of Gharib Nawaz, Ghulam Nasiruddin Chishti, Dr. Imran Yousaf (Honorary Ambassador of the Philippines), Dr. Naeemuddin Al-Azhari, along with other prominent academic, political, and social figures, esteemed teachers, and students.

The English speech competition, held on the theme "In diversity there is strength and there is a beauty," saw Medina Mahnoor from GC University securing the first position, Hammad Mustafa Qadri from the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences securing the second position, and Noor-ul-Huda from Minhaj College for Women securing the third position. In the Naat recitation competition, Government College University Lahore's student Maryam Sadiq secured the first position, Ali Hasnain Asif from the University of the Punjab secured the second position, and Laiba Kashif from Government Shalimar College Lahore secured the third position.

During the event, awards were distributed among the successful students by Vice-Chancellor Minhaj University Lahore, Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Principal College of Shariah Dr. Mumtaz ul Hassan Barvi, Mufti Abdul Qayyum Hazarvi, renowned Naat reciter Hajji Akhtar Qureshi, Dr. Shakil Ahmed Tahir, Professor Mahbullah, Dr. Shafqat Baghdadi, Dr. Faizullah Baghdadi, Dr. Imran Yousaf, Pir Ghulam Nasiruddin Chishti, and other guests.

Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, while addressing the ceremony, said that today's youth are appearing disheartened and worried, and are leaving the country in droves. Why are young people becoming hopeless and disillusioned? It is imperative to understand the reasons behind this. He emphasized the need for introspection, correcting our vision, and striving with dedication in a particular direction, which can pave the way for success for today's youth. He stressed the importance of aligning ourselves with the vision given by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for the promotion of economy, technology, and education.
